The people behind Better Balance
Dhyana Tribe - Naturopath, Health Researcher and Writer My work is about solutions to the age-old questions – what shall I eat? and what is good for me? I give menus for all food plans, encompassing vegan, vegetarian, pescutarian and omnivores’ food choices. The emphasis is on real foods with no Industrial foods. My creation, the 80/20 alkaline/acid food chart, is a popular theory that helps many people work through issues to regain their health integrity. I am researching the latest trends from leading natural health doctors, including Weston A Price, Dr Mercola, Dr Budwig, Bernard Jensen, Dr Baroody and many others too numerous to mention. I translate this research into simple language and delicious recipes. |
Kathleen Cole - Director of Better Balance, Naturopath, Health Researcher and Writer
My passion is teaching those wanting to take control of their own health and that of their families and communities. I believe, and research backs this up, that our mind-body has an innate ability to repair and heal itself. The spectrum of health and disease comes through an interaction between our genes and our environment. Our lifestyles – how we sleep, socialize, deal with stress and choose food – speak to our genes and can turn them on or off to promote healthy cells and a healthy mind-body. I also believe that educating yourself on how to interact with your genes, in a way that heals and repairs, will have a positive impact on our global environment and on future generations. I have worked as a health practitioner, both as a nurse and naturopath, for the last 35 years. During this time I operated my own clinic specializing in cardiovascular and breast health, and integrative support for women going through their breast cancer journey. I research and write for Better Balance and am the author of the Anti-inflammatory Food Guide and co- author of The Glycemic Index chart. |
Grant Cole - Art Editor
A graphic designer since 1987, my background has been in marketing, educational resources, interpretive signage, exhibitions and historic publications, and as an editorial and children’s books illustrator. My collaboration with Dhyana on the health theory charts began in 1997. More recently I have specialised in health and heritage publications and interpretation. I work on the principle that these benefit enormously from integrating graphic and narrative design in their creation, ie closely fitting the stories we tell with the way we tell them. With Better Balance my role is to oversee the art direction, production and marketing of our publications, but I also have a personal belief that quality food choices complemented with good health information is one of the keys to improving the wellbeing of everyone. |
